Aaron Devlin Memorial Tournament 2024
Hello everyone,
We are delighted to announce that our Annual Aaron Devlin Tournament has been confirmed for Friday 7th June 2024 at Ballinderry Shamrocks GAA starting at 10am sharp. To ensure that we can run the tournament off in as efficient a manner as possible, we would ask that all schools to arrive before 9:45am.
The tournament will include a separate boys’ and girls’ competition. Each school may enter only one team. Derrychrin PS as hosts will be entering two teams in both competitions. The tournament will have an initial group stage, followed by knockout in both the Cup and Shield sections. The boys’ tournament will be 9 a-side and the girls’ tournament 9 a-side. A rule passed at Derry County Convention in March 2017, stated that only boys may play in Boys’ Competitions and girls in Girls’ Competitions. This rule applies within our tournament. Further details of competition rules will be issued after schools have confirmed their attendance.
The Aaron Devlin Cup and the Aaron Devlin Shield will be presented to the winning teams in each competition along with medals for each player. Silver medals will be presented to the runners-up in each competition. A Player of the Tournament award will be presented in both the girls’ and boys’ sections.
The 2023 Tournament winners are kindly asked to get their school name and year, engraved on the Cup and Shield and bring it to the tournament on the day or return it to Derrychrin Primary School before the tournament.
We would ask each participating school to donate £20 for the nominated charity ‘Meningitis NOW’. Can we ask for payment by cheque to the school office before the tournament. Please make it payable to Derrychrin Primary School.
