SUSTRANS NI ‘Ditch the Dark’
As part of Road Safety Week 2021 we are holding a special Active Travel to school day on:
Thursday 18th November 2021
The theme of the day is to ‘Ditch the Dark’. To raise awareness of safe travel to school during the darker days, we are encouraging children to actively travel (walk, scoot or cycle) to school wearing bright, fluorescent, neon, reflective clothing.
We understand that it might not be an option for everyone to actively travel to school but if possible we would encourage you to park up somewhere convenient and walk a short distance to school with your child. In doing so we hope we’ll reduce the number of cars around school and have lots of active kids on the day!
Established by ‘Brake’ more than 20 years ago, Road Safety Week seeks to raise public awareness of road safety issues and to teach vital road safety skills.
‘Brake’ encourages schools to help children learn about road safety heroes and why road safety matters; enabling them to speak up for safe and healthy journeys.
We hope that you enjoy taking part and getting active on the school run!
