☘️ St. Patrick's Green Day Celebrations 2024 ☘️
To begin our St. Patrick’s Day and weekend celebrations. Our Primary 6 delivered a lovely whole school St. Patrick morning assembly with readings, prayers and songs.
We then had a yummy 'Big Breakfast/Brunch' and many thanks to our wonderful canteen staff. It was delicious!
We then made our way to the community hub for the children to display their wonderful talents of singing, traditional music and Irish dancing. The running order for the afternoon started with our superb instrumentalist group showcasing their wonderful talents playing Irish tunes on the tin whistle and guitar. The audience were treated to the tunes McAlpine Fusiliers, Flat Water Fran, Drunken Sailor & Rattlin Bog and The Irish Rover….Amazing!
A huge well done to our Primary 1-7 pupils on each of their class performances.
P1 - The Leprechaun Dance and Molly Malone
P2 - Oh my Johnny and Lord of the Dance
P3 - Galway Girl and All on St. Patrick’s Day
P4 - I Tell Me Ma and Rattlin Bog
P5 - Hail Glorious St. Patrick and When I grow up I want to play County / Oooh Ahh GAA
P6 - Amhran na bhFiann and An Haka Gaelach
P7 - Irelands Call and St. Patrick’s Flame
We all came together at the end and the whole school sang Ireland's Call and Amhran na bhFiann to conclude our celebrations. We had a great and enjoyable day!
Thank you to everyone who attended and for the kind voluntary donations. A special thank you to Maureen McKinless and Ballinderry Community Hub for providing the hub which is a superb facility. It was the first year Derrychrin celebrated the occasion in the hub and it allowed the whole school community to come together and join the children and staff in celebrating our Irish Culture and our Patron Saint.
Huge congratulations to all involved and thanks to all our families for the great efforts to turn our student’s out in their ‘Glas’ (green). We wish all our school community a very Happy, Peaceful and Joyful St. Patrick’s Day.
