RE Diocesan Advisor visits Derrychrin PS

22nd Feb 2024

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome Mr. John Campbell, RE Diocesan Advisor to Derrychrin PS. John visited our Primary 4 and Primary 5 classes in the morning then the Primary 7 children in the afternoon. It was a lovely opportunity for John to visit the P4 and P7 children in preparation of the Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation. In P5, he discussed the important time of Lent and encouraged the children to maybe not be under pressure of going off something but maybe to try to do something positive and good over the Lenten period. He also stressed the importance of prayer and on occasions when you pray really hard for something that may not occur immediately, it will over time. No prayer is ever wasted. John talked about his time as a child, teacher and Principal, as he made reference to the author Michael Morpurgo and the children in P5 got the opportunity to sing their 'The Neighbour Song' accompanied by their actions and dance.

It was a wonderful opportunity to show the life and ethos within Derrychrin PS community. John praised and thanked everyone for the warm welcome he received and was very complementary of the hard work and dedication of all the staff. He witnessed the happiness and kindness throughout the school describing Derrychrin as a wonderful nurturing environment.

Thank you John!
