Month of the Rosary and World Missions Month.

7th Oct 2022

Month of the Rosary and World Missions Month.

Across Ireland, there is a deep-rooted tradition of supporting missionaries and it’s a celebration to encourage our children to put their love into action through prayer and giving.

For the month of October in Derrychrin, we will celebrate ‘World Missions Month’ and the ‘Month of the Rosary’ as a joint celebration, with our children saying daily prayers connected to the Rosary and learning about World Missions.

Our P1 and P2 children will practice the prayer ‘Glory Be’ with actions, our P3 and P4 children will practice the ‘Fatima Prayer’ and our P5-P7 pupils will practice the prayer ‘Hail Holy Queen’.

In preparation for celebrating Children’s Day of Mission Prayer on Friday 14th October, Miss Hughes will lead our whole school assembly each Friday morning. This morning we focused on the importance of the World Mission Rosary and how it reminds us to pray for others around the world as a family of families.

Next week we will be celebrating the Children’s Day of Mission Prayer and the following week we have a short prayer service with rosary prayers and hymns.

This morning we also had our P7 pupils watch mass online, as Fr. Donnelly celebrated First Friday of the Month mass at St. Patrick’s Church, Ballinderry.

The children have been great this week practicing in school and we would kindly ask for parents/guardians to practice the Rosary prayers and hymns with their children at home.

Thank you
