Fr. Francesco visits Derrychrin PS
Fr. Francesco visits Derrychrin PS
Last weekend, 27th/28th April, Ballinderry Parish welcomed twelve seminarians who are all studying for the priesthood for service in the Armagh Archdiocese. They come from a number of different countries and when ordained, they will be ministering in parishes in Co Derry, Co Tyrone, Co Armagh and Co Louth. They visited the families of Ballinderry Parish, calling at family homes and also meeting people after Mass. Fr. Donnelly commented on how the student priests were very appreciative of the warm welcome and hospitality they received in the Ballinderry parish.
Today, Derrychrin PS gave a warm welcome to Fr. Francesco accompanied by Fr. Donnelly and Fr. Juan who is curate in the Magherafelt Parish. Both priests recounted their own childhood stories and their priesthood journey to date. They highlighted the importance of Jesus through the Eucharist and their special calling from God.
Fr. Francesco also talked to the children about his recent ordination and he made a special request to the children to pray for him as he begins his priestly ministry.
We showed our appreciation to both priests, with our choir singing their new song for First Holy Communion ‘Children of the Light’ and the P4 pupils played their tin whistle instrumental. Fr. Francesco led the children in a decade of the rosary as we marked the month of Our Lady.
At the end of a memorable afternoon, Mr. McElroy congratulated Fr. Francesco on his recent ordination and presented him with a donation as an acknowledgment on behalf of the school.
