Class of 2024 End of Year Celebration

Today we had the End of Year celebration for our wonderful P7 children as we bid farewell to the Class of 2024. It was a lovely occasion to have the children, their parents and family members celebrate the special Mass. Thank you to Fr. Donnelly for celebrating a joyous Mass.

Well done to all the children in their roles as readers, saying the Prayers of the Faithful, Offertory and instrumental group. A massive thank to Miss Hughes for preparing the children so well always.

Afterwards the pupils, parents and family members came together in the school hall for a special assembly, 'A to Z memories of Derrychrin' enjoyed a special lunch and refreshments, along with presentation of treat bags. They also got the opportunity to watch the wonderful ‘Leaver’s video produced by Eamon McGarrity which included their favourite song when they started P1 in 2017, favourite song from 2024 as they end their primary school journey and their favourite friendship song. We have added the video the P7 children produced with Eamon for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you to our canteen staff, Margaret, Ann-Marie and Colette for providing delicious food and refreshments for everyone.

Thank you to Gemma for organising the lovely balloons and preparing the gift bags which included delightful cupcakes baked by Erin at ‘Bridge Bakes’ and the ‘Class of 2024’ keyrings and a special class photo wearing their leavers tops. Thank you also to Siobhan for preparing the hall and tables/chairs.

A massive thank you to all the teaching staff and non-teaching staff for their care and dedication throughout their children’s time at Derrychrin PS. A special mention of gratitude must go to P7 class teacher Mr. O’Neill and teaching assistant Nikki, for their kindness and dedication in the children’s final year.

As we bid farewell to the P7 boys and girls and the ‘Class of 2024’, we would like it to be a time for joy and celebration as we reflect on their primary school journey. They can also look towards the journey they are about to embark upon as they move onto their new schools. These schools can count themselves very lucky to be getting such talented, caring, kind and wonderful children.

On behalf of all the staff, pupils, Board of Governors and whole Derrychrin school community, we thank all the children for being fantastic ambassadors and great role models. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our wonderful P7 pupils, but we wish them every success, joy, and happiness as they begin a new chapter in their lives. We will miss you all very much.

Please always remember our door will always be open and you will welcome back to Derrychrin any time. Take care and stay safe!

Many thanks
