Christmas Show 2023
Take a bow, the children of Derrychrin, with amazing performances at our Matinee and evening shows as we hosted our P1 performance ‘The Angel Express’ and our P2-P7 performance ‘Children of the World’. Our Christmas Show really epitomises the family atmosphere within our wonderful school. A team effort from all the pupils, staff and school community, providing many positive opportunities and ensuring memorable experiences for the children.
The children were fantastic in their practices, rehearsals and what a show they produced in both performances for the Matinee and Evening Show. The happiness and joy were so evident in their smiling and excited faces throughout the show. As a school community, we are extremely proud of each child, as they showcased their many talents. All we ever want is for our children is to ‘Be the best they can be’! and we have no doubt these experiences will have further developed their confidence and self-esteem.
Unfortunately, a number of children were unable to perform in both shows due to sickness which was disappointing for them but as a school they were very much in our thoughts, and we hope they are feeling much better soon.
A lot of gratitude and appreciation must go to all the hard working, caring and dedicated staff in preparing the pupils with their many roles and costume organisation.
A special word of thanks to Miss Hughes in leading the provision of music and singing across the school and managing the sound system for both shows. It was lovely to see our school choir with pupils from P4-P7 take to the stage and sing two wonderful songs. Thank you also to Donal Canavan our Music tutor who continues to share his expertise with the P4-P7 children and the instrumental group weekly.
A big thank you to our school secretary Gemma and to Deirdre for managing all the ticket sales, raffle tickets and cash donations.
We are very fortunate to have a great school hall and a stage with a digital backdrop beautifully decorated with lights and stars. Siobhan our caretaker and all the staff had the school looking great as always with many Christmas decorations on display and wonderful festive displays with the children’s artwork throughout the school.
Our Christmas Show is very much a team effort and would not have been possible without the support of our school community. A huge thank you to many local businesses, businesses connected to the school community and individuals for their generous cash donations and fantastic prizes. Their continuous support is invaluable and always appreciated.
Thank you to our wonderful ‘Friends of Derrychrin’ PTA who are always so helpful and supportive towards the school and assisting in many roles namely assisting with car parking, ticket collection, selling raffle tickets, organising prizes donations. Like so many occasions before they assisted in many roles and sourced many brilliant prizes for the Christmas Raffle. We had an unbelievable response to our Christmas Draw and are totally overwhelmed with the generosity and kindness of everyone who bought raffle tickets. The final part of the Christmas Draw was completed in school with the pupils and a list of winners have been added to the website. Congratulations to all the prize winners.

Christmas is always a special time of year for our families, to treasure the joy and happiness of our children. We hope that everyone had a memorable experience. We are already looking forward to next year!
