Aaron Devlin Memorial Tournament 2022
Aaron Devlin Memorial Tournament 2022
We were delighted to host our Annual Aaron Devlin Tournament today after a two-year absence. The wet weather conditions didn’t deter from the occasion and the standard of football on show was excellent - matched by the terrific sportsmanship shown by all teams, their teachers and mentors.
Thank you to all the schools who attended and participated. It was brilliant to have 18 boys’ teams and 14 girls’ teams represent their schools today in a wonderful festival of Gaelic Football and to play with such passion and desire in all games.
Huge thank you must go to Ballinderry Shamrocks GAC for hosting the event and for providing super facilities as always. We are truly indebted to the club for continuing to support the school in every possible way possible epitomising the strong school club links. To all the club members, coaches and playing members who helped in so many roles on the day.
A special mention to Killian Conlon in his role as main co-ordinator today and ensuring everything ran smoothly as always.
It was lovely to have the Devlin Family in attendance to present The Aaron Devlin Cups and Shields to the winning teams and medals to the runners up in each competition.
In the boys’ competitions; Derrychrin PS beat an excellent St. Peter’s Moortown PS team in the final of the Cup. The final needed extra time to separate both teams, with next score wins, sealing the title for Derrychrin PS.
In the final of the Shield, St. Trea’s PS Ballymaguigan defeated Holy Trinity PS, Cookstown.
In the girls’ competitions; St. Trea’s PS Ballymaguigan ran out winners after an evenly contested final with Holy Trinity PS, Cookstown to secure the Cup.
Derrychrin PS defeated Holy Family Ps, Magherafelt to record a brilliant victory in the Shield Final.
Thank you to our school canteen staff who provided lovely refreshments and lunch for all the teachers, mentors and officials. Also thank you to Stephen McGeehan who arranged for the Anglo Celt & Sam Maguire Cups to be there on day for photo opportunities.
Many thanks to all the Teaching and Non-Teaching staff who assisted in many roles to ensure the tournament was a success.
It was also great to have Cathal McOscar in attendance to capture so many wonderful photographs and memories for all the schools and pupils. Please see attached link to view all photos.
