Congratulations to the P7 pupils from both Parish schools Derrychrin PS and Ballylifford PS, who received the Sacrament of Confirmation yesterday evening. Bishop Router, Fr. Donnelly and Fr. Juan were so full of praise of all the children, parents and family members in attendance as Bishop Router highlighted the evening as a joyful occasion for the children. In his homily, he made particular reference to Carlo Acutis (who will be canonised on Sunday 27th April) and how he had a special relationship with God and how he made time for God, faith and prayer. The wonderful gift of faith and walking with God helps to overcome many things and ensures joy and peace in our hearts. This was a reminder for the children to serve God in the right way to make the world a better place by inspiring others. Bishop Router reminded the children how unique they are with many gifts, talents and qualities. He encouraged them to be known for the right reasons by being original and not a photocopy.
Thank you to P7 class teacher Mr. O'Neill and Mrs. Conlan for preparing the children so well for the ceremony and producing wonderful artwork on display in the Chapel.
A special thank you to Miss Hughes who prepared the children brilliantly in all choir practices and for their beautiful singing this evening. Miss Hughes along with Donal Canavan prepared the instrumental group in performing their beautiful Music. A special mention to all the teachers who assisted with the choir and also for their commitment in preparing the children on their faith journey during their time at Derrychrin PS.
Many thanks to John O'Neill as always, for taking all photographs. We have added a number of group photos to the school website and if you had any family photos taken by John O'Neill (Sperrins Photography) you can contact John through email rallypictures@btinternet.com or by telephone to purchase them.
Thank you to Philomena McGuckin organised and guided the altar servers in their roles.
Thank you to our Sacristan, John Wilson and the altar society for preparing the chapel and having it looking wonderful as always with all the lovely floral displays and Confirmation features.
As a school community we are very proud of the children and we hope that they all had a lovely evening with their families, cherishing many special memories.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful,
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created,
and you will renew the face of the earth
